This Sunday morning we are sharing the Lord’s Supper (communion) together to remember what Jesus has done for us on the cross. The Lord’s Supper points to Jesus Christ, whose body was given for us and whose shed blood established the new covenant. In sharing the bread and cup, each believer remembers the death of Jesus and God’s act of deliverance in raising Jesus from the dead. As we relive this event with a common meal, we give thanks for all God’s acts of deliverance in the past and present, for the forgiveness of sins, and for God’s continuing grace in our lives.

The past several years at Arthur Mennonite Church (AMC) have seen many conversations and questions about denominational affiliations. These all led to a congregational vote on Sunday, May 19 in which the AMC members in attendance voted to leave Mennonite Church USA and Illinois Mennonite Conference to join LMC: A Fellowship of Anabaptist Churches (formerly Lancaster Mennonite Conference) and the Evana Network of churches. The vote to change affiliations passed by 88% in favor. This transition will begin to take place in the next month or two.

Our annual worship in the park Sunday will be held on June 2nd at Brad O Clen park north of Arthur. This year, we will hear testimonies from our church family members about matured answered prayer; what do they know now years after answered prayer? how have they seen fruit continue through that answered prayer?
The outdoor worship service will begin at 10:00 am and a potluck fellowship meal will be shared after the service. Bring a dish to share, your lawn chairs, and anything else that might add to the morning and afternoon in the park.
